George F. Bishop, 78, Canton

CANTON -- Funeral services for George F. Bishop, age 78, of Canton, NY, will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 2:00PM at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg with Deacon Mark LaLonde officiating.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until the time of the funeral. Mr. Bishop passed away Monday, June 24, 2024, at Massena Rehab and Nursing Home.

George is survived by his wife, Trudy Bishop of Canton, NY; children, Roger (Laura) Bishop, Mary (Chuck) Reed of North Carolina, sisters, Frances Countryman of Louisiana and Edna Lake of Heuvelton, NY; grandchildren and great- grandchildren in North Carolina, a lifelong friend Donnie Brooks, Ayden, NC, his faithful canine companion, Jorge, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is predeceased by his parents, Franklin and Jessie Bishop; a son, David, a sister and her husband, Beverly and Merle Putnam and a brother-in-law, Dan Lake.

George was born on December 4, 1945, in Canton, NY the son of the late Franklin and Jessie M. (Worden) Bishop.

George graduated from Heuvelton Central School.

George married Trudy Wilson at St. Mary's Church in Canton, NY on June 21, 2002.

George was employed by Riverview Correctional Facility as a Vocational Printer Instructor for over 25 years.

George enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling with Trudy, going to the casino and golfing. He also enjoyed woodworking.
