CANTON – Each year GardenShare recognizes an individual or organization that has worked to strengthen food security in our community. Beginning in 2003 recipients of the award have included several local farmers, food service staff, food pantries, school backpack and meal programs, and numerous community members and groups.
“We present the annual Growing Community Award to recognize people who are making the North Country a more food secure place for local residents. They are our food heroes helping to fight food insecurity” said Carlene Doane, GardenShare Executive Director.
GardenShare is currently seeking nominations for the 2024 Growing Community Award, which will be presented at the annual Fight Hunger Fair on Sunday, September 15, at the Canton Village Park. Individuals, families, or organizations who have demonstrated dedication in solving the problem of hunger in our community, or in building a stronger local food system that benefits all North Country residents may be nominated for this recognition.
More information, including a list of past recipients and a google nomination form can be found at GardenShare.org. Nominations are due Friday, July 26, and should be submitted via the online form found on GardenShare’s website.
