POTSDAM -- Cinema 10 screening for 10/19, Fiume o Morte! (Croatia/Italy/Slovenia, 2025, d. Igor Bezinović, Italian/Croatian) 112 min. Using actual residents who live in present-day Rijeka (which Italians call Fiume), Fiume o Morte! is a comedic docudrama that recounts the occupation of the Italian city by poet and nationalist, Gabriele D’Annunzio. Director Igor Bezinović weaves together archival footage and modern recreations to create a portrait of a city in turmoil, one whose history looms large today. For Screen Daily, Wendy Ide wrote, “it’s a gloriously punk spin on the historical documentary genre, channeling the humour and rebellious spirit of a people who have been part of ‘eight or nine different countries’ during the 20th century… but who have managed to maintain their own distinct identity nonetheless.” Films are shown on Monday evenings at 7:15 pm in the Roxy Theater in Potsdam. Tickets are $6.50 general / $55 sharable season or $5.50 student/senior / $45 sharable season (special prices for The Rocky Horror Picture Show.)
