To the Editor:
The race for our next Congressional representative for the 21st district is just two months away. Who Anthony Constantino is matters more than any particular issue. Here’s my problem.
First, Constantino’s only credential is his big money. He paid almost 7 million dollars in a bitter primary. How much more of his millions will he spend to buy the election? Do we really need a self-serving 1 percenter “representing” the North Country? Will he really help people suffering from record high inflation, high unemployment, and increasing inaccessibility to healthcare, loss of SNAP benefits? I doubt it.
Second, Trump is all about lies and deception masquerading as truth. Constantino’s campaign slogan mirrors his boss in this respect: “Nobody’s man but yours.” If you believe that, I have a Brooklyn bridge I want to sell you. He is Trump’s man pure and simple, a weird sycophant who likes to polish his bigger than life statue of him.
Third, he’s nasty. Look at the dirt he cast on Smullen, a retired Marine officer with three honorable tours of duty in Afghanistan. Constantino is trying the same over the top personal attacks against Gendebien, castigating him as “a far left puppet.” If you love mudslingers, Constantino throws grotesque gobs of it.
Fourth, he insults our Canadian neighbors. In the Watertown Times (9-2), Constantino trumpets Trump’s renaming Lake Ontario Lake America as a brilliant negotiating tactic. Now we’re in an unnecessary trade war with Canada, a country vital to the Northcountry’s financial vitality. How can Constantino condone Trump’s offensive words against our great ally and friend? To try to cudgel Canadians through crude insults and blatantly unfair punishing tariffs (which we pay!) is not only stupid, but morally and economically wrong.
Constantino, like his boss, is a wrecking ball, unfit to be our Congressman.
