Erik Fairbanks, 32, Gouverneur

Posted

It is with profound sadness and deep heartache that we announce the passing of Erik Fairbanks, a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, who left us too soon at the age of 32. Erik was a beacon of love and generosity, known for his willingness to help anyone, at a drop of a hat. His spirit was defined by kindness, and he had an incredible ability to make everyone around him feel valued and cherished.

Erik was born on January 7, 1992. He grew up surrounded by a loving family, including his devoted siblings. He worshipped his niece and nephews, bringing joy and laughter into their lives with his playful spirit and unwavering love. His love for his family extended to his grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his friends, creating bonds that will forever remain in their hearts.

Erik had a gift for bringing people together, always the first to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. His laughter was infectious, and his heart was open to all. In a world that often felt divided, Erik was a unifying force, reminding us of the importance of family, love, compassion, and connection.

Though his time with us was cut short, the impact he made on the lives of those who knew him will resonate forever. We are grateful for the moments we shared and will carry his spirit with us always.

Erik leaves behind his loving mother Lisa; two brothers and their spouses, Darren and Nicole, Timothy and Brittaney and his cherished niece and nephews, Jase, Kanon, Carson, Reagan and Holden.  He also leaves behind grandmother, Fay Stronach (Mildred) and Mary Schmidt (Gramma Mary); three aunts, Michelle and Kevin Tharrett, Christine Cornell and Tracy and Jeff White, who he loved like a father. Also, his beautiful cousins, Brittany VanOrnum, Cassandra Woods and Julie Cornell; his dear friends, Cayla Jenne and Autumn Pasodni. All of these people meant the world to Erik and he loved them deeply. Erik is predeceased by his uncle, Jerry Cornell; two grandfathers, Timothy Fairbanks and Robert Schmidt; a grandmother, Diane Fairbanks; as well as a great-grandmother, Dorothy Phelps.

It’s hard to imagine a world without this beautiful soul
