Vincent Terrance Egan, 82, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG - Vincent Terrance Egan age 82, of Ogdensburg, NY passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, October 8, 2024 at Claxton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg, NY. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox & Murray Funeral Home with a future celebration of life to be determined.

Born in South St. Paul, MN, to the late Eugene Delano and Roselind (Danninger) Egan, Vincent showed remarkable talent in hockey during his high school years, attracting attention from prestigious universities. He chose to attend St. Lawrence University, where he not only excelled in hockey but also earned his Bachelor’s Degree.

On August 14, 1965, he married the love of his life, Jill Suzanne Joyce, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, NY. Vincent continued his academic
journey, completing his Master’s Degree from St. Lawrence University shortly after.

Vincent dedicated his professional life to the field of education, serving as an Elementary Physical Education teacher at Potsdam Central School. A passionate coach, he contributed to the community by mentoring young athletes in baseball, track and field, and, most notably, as the Head Coach of the Potsdam Central School Varsity Hockey Team from 1968 to 1981. In the summers, he channeled his entrepreneurial spirit by operating Egan Contracting, where he took on various construction projects, from painting to roofing.

Beyond his professional achievements, Vincent was an avid sports enthusiast, playing for the Potsdam Potbelly hockey team and cheering for the Ottawa

Senators. He found joy in fishing and woodworking, hobbies that reflected his love for the outdoors. Vincent’s warmth and kindness endeared him to all who knew him, leaving a lasting impact on both his family and community.

Mr. Egan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jill Joyce Egan of Ogdensburg, NY; his son, Vincent Egan Jr. and his wife Anne Marie of Fairport, NY; his daughters, Joyce Egan of Brighton, NY and Roselyn Levesque of Mount Pleasant, SC; his brother, Eugene Patrick Egan and his wife Cathy of Woodbury, MN; sister in laws, Janet Egan of Cottage Grove, MN, and Pat Egan of Woodbury, MN; his grandchildren, Brian Terrance Egan of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Anne Egan of Buffalo, NY, Katya Maria Gaudieri of Smithtown, NY, Sara Joyce Gaudieri of Nashville, TN, Cash Kennedy Levesque of Mount Pleasant, SC and Brody Vincent Levesque of Mount Pleasant, SC; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene Delano and Roselind Egan; and his brothers, Joseph Ambrose Egan, Dennis William Egan and Timothy James Egan.
