Celebration of Jewish Music Concert

POTSDAM — Congregation Beth El in Potsdam will host its annual Celebration of Jewish Music Concert on Sunday, Aug. 4 from 2-3 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public thanks to the Allan & Wendy Williams Family Fund.

This year's concert will feature Russian-Jewish music by Moscow natives Anya Groysman and Illya Sterin.

Anya Groysman is a teacher of early music and was the director of the women's choir at the Bnot Menachem Jewish Chabad School in Moscow.

Anya is a founder and artistic director of the women's choir in Israel "SABABA CHOIR.”

Sababa Choir participated in the Global Hatikva project with the support of American friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

Anya also organizes musical events and performances in Haifa, Israel.

Ilya Sterin is a passionate musician and performer.

He is a winner of vocal competitions and talent shows in Russia.

Ilya’s musical interests cover singing, playing musical instruments including piano, guitar, and violin, composing, as well as making choral acapella arrangements.

Both Anna and Ilya were the soloists of MIREA chamber choir in Moscow, which is a winner of many Russian and international competitions.

They also regularly participated in musical projects of the Jewish community in Moscow.

Being the siblings, Anya and Ilya have been making music together since childhood.

Congregation Beth El is located at 81 Market Street in Potsdam.
