Carol Ann Gilmour, 80, formerly of Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG - Carol Ann Gilmour, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on October 4, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born on April 27, 1944, to Newton and Florence (Bowen) Bettinger and graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in June 1962.
On January 26, 1963, Carol married Vernon Gilmour, and together they built a life filled with love and family. Carol dedicated many years of her life to working at the Lakeside Restaurant, North Country Savings Bank, and as a real estate agent, where she made lasting connections with many in the community.
She is survived by her brother Ron (Karen) Bettinger; her children Linda (Steve) Wright, Karen (Bob) Richards, Hattie (Marty) Bice, and Kevin (Melissa) Gilmour; her grandchildren Spencer (Shauna) Kirby, Samantha Bice, Tyler (Jessie) Richards, Brandon (Hallie) Wright, Megan (Joe) Terrana, and Carolyn Wright; and her adored great-grandsons Kylar, Kaysn, and Kohyn Kirby, and Paxton Terrana.
Carol is also survived by her sister-in-law Sally Miller and aunt Sarah Gilmour, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember her fondly. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband, Vernon, whom she missed dearly.
A lover of Elvis, gnomes, and the casino, Carol cherished her time shopping and attending her grandchildren’s sporting games.
A wake will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Frary Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Morristown. Following the Mass, Carol will be laid to rest at Pine Hill Cemetery on Eel Weir Road in Oswegatchie.
In lieu of flowers, Carol’s family suggests donations to Morristown Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
