Bookish Bingo a great event at Ogdensburg Public Library

On February 28, the Ogdensburg Public Library held a tea party to kick off Bookish Bingo, a reading game for adults. Thanks to the hard work and generosity of Library staff, board members and Friends of the Library. Wendy Hamilton, Ellen Grayson, Cheryl Ladouceur, Lin Griffin, Mary Keenan, Kathy Lawrence, Nancy Love and Karen Wright donated delicious snacks.

Laura Desmond of the Frederic Remington Art Museum kindly facilitated supplies. Laura Pearson used her expertise in helping with publicity. Melanie Brown worked her magic posting the program on the Library’s social media and by designing signs, game cards, instruction sheets and tickets readers will fill out as they complete their bingo sheets. Our goal is to have fun exploring different kinds of reading and to share what we’re reading with friends. To play the game, folks may pick up a bingo sheet at the Library or download it from Facebook. The game will end on April 5, so there are weeks and weeks of reading ahead.

When readers return completed bingo sheets to the Library, each one will have their name placed in a jar for a gift drawing on April 5.

More information will follow as to the time of the drawing. Participants won’t have to be at the Library to receive their gift. They can be notified by phone. We’re already enjoying some stimulating conversations between Library staff and readers.
