St. Lawrence County Public Health reports another COVID fatality, college COVID numbers remain low

St. Lawrence County Public Health reports another person has died from COVID, bringing the total to 116.

They also announced 71 new cases as of Wednesday, Sept. 22.

COVID by the numbers in St. Lawrence County:

Total number of confirmed positives to-date: 10,268

Active cases: 548

Released from isolation: 9,604

Hospitalizations: 19

Deaths: 116

Total number of tests performed to date: 389,168

% of Fully vaccinated in St. Lawrence County: 52.8

% of St. Lawrence County positivity rate: 7.33

The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department is currently holding COVID-19 Vaccination clinics every Monday and Wednesday at 80 St. Hwy 310, Suite 2, Canton. To make an appointment, call 315-229-3452.

Vaccinations are available at local pharmacies.

If you or someone you know is homebound and is interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, call Public Health at 315-386-2325.

Testing is being done at the locations listed below. Some urgent cares and provider offices are also performing testing. Testing is by appointment only.

Call the hotline numbers below between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. if you have symptoms or feel you should be tested:

COVID numbers remain low at the four area colleges as well, with St. Lawrence continuing to see numbers decline. SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Canton saw slight rises, with Clarkson remaining flat.

St. Lawrence University has 11 active cases among students and three active employee cases.

No students are in mandatory campus quarantine.

There have been 238 confirmed cases since Aug. 11.

Two-hundred and twenty-four have recovered.

To date, 10,839 tests have been conducted since Aug. 11, with 182 tests pending results.

All St. Lawrence University students are vaccinated.

SUNY Canton reports six active student cases in the previous 14 days.

Three employees have tested positive.

In total, 1301 tests have been conducted with 1295 negative in the previous 14 days.

Positivity rate is 0.5%.

Five students are isolated on-campus.

SUNY Potsdam reports one active case on campus and four active cases off campus for a total of five.

There are three active cases among employees.

The 14 day positivity rate is 0.39%.

Clarkson University reports one active student case on their Potsdam campus.

There are currently six active staff cases.

Four students and six staff have recovered.
