Salvation Army Food Pantry in Ogdensburg returning to former location, with expanded hours

OGDENSBURG – The Salvation Army Food Pantry is returning to its former location at 401 Franklin St. at the end of the month, and with expanded hours.

The current location of its food pantry at 727 State St. closed August 18, and it will reopen at the Salvation Army building Monday, Aug. 30.

“We are really excited to move the food pantry back to our main building. It will allow to just about double the number of hours the food pantry is open each week when we reopen on August 30. My wife, Patti, and I are passionate about food – hunger in our community is one problem that is incredibly easy to solve but we, along with all food pantries, need the community’s help. Non-perishable food donations, along with food we get from the Food Bank of Central NY, keeps food pantries serving people,” said Captain Scott Murray.

Salvation Corp officers/pastors, Captain Scott Murray and his wife, Major Patti Murray, are new to the Salvation Army of Ogdensburg.

“Once we reopen the food pantry, we’ll be open 20+ hours a week, and the hours will expand again in just a month.”

The former soup kitchen food program is still suspended, as the kitchen is renovated.

“We expect to reopen the feeding program in 4-6 weeks. We’re not only re-doing the kitchen, but we’re going to re-do the feeding program, too,” he said.
