CANTON — Members of American Kang Duk Won Karate assisted in a project which has helped to revitalize a central portion of the Bend in the River Park.

“Over the past month adults and youth have shared in a community centered project which has included raking leaves, cutting and clearing fallen limbs and trees, planting flowers, and reseeding a lawn area of the Park located next to the Grasse River, according to American Kang Due Won Instructor Frank Palumbo. “Prior to these efforts, the river was barely visible in that area due to thick shrubs and fallen trees which had overwhelmed the shoreline.”

The Grasse River and the wide range of wildlife that frequents the Bend in the River Park are now quite easily viewed as visitors enter the park.

“American Kang Duk Won members are greatly appreciative of the support they received from the crews of both the Village Recreation Pavilion and Public Works Facility,” Palumbo said. “The assistance they offered was instrumental in coordinating all phases of the project.”

Additional volunteer efforts are planned so that evening exercise time for residents of all ages might be increasingly rewarding, Palumbo said.
