More than 100 new cases of COVID-19 reported in St. Lawrence County since Tuesday, vaccination clinics offered at local schools

With over 100 new cases of COVID-19 reported since Tuesday, St. Lawrence County Public Health strongly urges and recommends that all persons wear a mask indoors in public spaces, in accordance with recent CDC guidance.

In addition, Public Health is urging unvaccinated local residents to get vaccinated. Public Health is currently holding COVID-19 Vaccination clinics every Monday and Wednesday, from 8:30-2:30 p.m., at 80 St. Hwy 310, Suite 2, Canton, NY. To make an appointment, please call (315) 229-3452.

Walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be offered at several local schools as well:

• Monday, Aug. 23, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Ogdensburg Free Academy, 1100 State St.;

• Thursday, Aug. 26, 4-6 p.m., Parishville-Hopkinton School, 12 County Route 47, Parishville;

• Thursday, Aug. 26, 5-7 p.m., Clifton-Fine Central, 11 Hall Ave., Star Lake;

• Wednesday, Sept. 1, 3-6 p.m., Canton Central School, 99 State St.;

• Thursday, Sept. 9, 3-5 p.m., Edwards-Knox Central, 2512 County Route 24, Hermon.

Vaccinations are also available at local pharmacies.

If you or someone you know is homebound and is interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, call Public Health at 315-386-2325.

One hundred one new cases of COVID-19 were reported to Public Health between Tuesday, Aug. 17 and Thursday, Aug. 19, bringing the total number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases to-date to 8,047.

Public Health said 7,712 cases have been released from isolation.

Nine cases are hospitalized.

Ninety-seven deaths have occurred; this fatality data comes from the New York State Department of Health and was last updated on Aug. 19 before 2 p.m.

Public Health said 352,845 COVID-19 tests have been performed as of Aug. 18; this testing data comes from the New York State Department of Health and was last updated on Aug. 19 before 2 p.m.

Testing is being done through both St. Lawrence Health Systems and Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Testing is by appointment only.
