Bottle drive underway

DEKALB JUNCTION — B&B Bottle Redemption Center, 120 Canton St., is hosting a bottle drive June 29 through July 7 to benefit the DeKalb Revitalization Committee. Funds will go toward future events like movies in the park and the publication of their Hermon-DeKalb Business Directory. Drop off bottles and cans at B&B and say it is a donation to the DRC.

Community paddle

CANTON — Nature Up North will host a community paddle Friday, June 30 from 6:30-8 p.m. starting from the Little River Boat launch. Paddlers will explore Little River, learn about the surrounding forest, and turtles. Boats, paddles, and adult life jackets are provided, but provide a life jacket for youth and children. Orchestra concert

POTSDAM — The Orchestra of Northern New York will host its Fantastic Film Favorites concert to ring in the Fourth of July holiday on Friday, June 30 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall at the Crane School of Music. LOUISVILLE — The Louisville Fire Department’s third annual car show will be held at Station #2 on Route 37 on July 1 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be more than 150 classic cars and other vehicles, a live band, chicken barbecue, ribs, hamburgers and beverages. Proceeds will benefit Lousiville Fire Department.

Norwood fireworks, dance, parade

NORWOOD — The Norwood Fire Department will host Independence Day celebrations on July 3 and 4. On July 3 there will be bounce houses on the village green at 1 p.m. Demolition derby is slated at Fireman’s Field at 1 p.m. A block dance with the Norwood Brass Firemen on the green beginning at 9 p.m. Fireworks begin at dusk at the Fireman’s Field.

River of Lights

COLTON — The River of Lights event to celebrate the Independence holiday will be Monday, July 3, from 9:15-10:30 p.m. in Colton. Residents living along Higley Flow will light flares along the shore to light up the river.

Canton seniors club convene

July 4th parade, festival

MORRISTOWN — The Steven Spilman Memorial Fourth of July Parade will step off on Main Street at 10 a.m. on July 4. Bands from Gouverneur, Heuvelton, Lisbon, Morristown and Ogdensburg are slated to perform. Those who wish to be in the parade are asked to line up on Main Street at 9:30 a.m. Independence Day activities shift to the fire station at 11:30 for a car show, craft show, chicken BBQ and a water ball tournament. Kids games, 50/50 raffle, games of chance, beverages and concession stand food.

COLTON — On Tuesday, July 4 the annual children’s parade in Colton will step off at the junction of Cottage Road and Arbuckle at 10 a.m. Children and adults wearing patriotic colors and outfits will march up Cottage Road along Higley Flow to Gulf Road. Boats following along with the marchers along the shore are encouraged to decorate their boats in honor of July 4.
