Edwards man was convicted of drug, weapon charges; faces up to 14 years

CANTON -- An Edwards man was convicted of drug and weapon charges following a jury trial, according to St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua.

Caleb Serrano, 29, of Edwards, was convicted of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felony, The defendant was represented by the St. Lawrence County Public Defender’s Office and the trial was presided over by the Honorable Gregory P. Storie.

Evidence at the trial established that on October 8, 2020, the defendant was traveling on State Highway 812, in the Town of Oswegatchie, St. Lawrence County, when he was found to be in possession of more than 10 grams of methamphetamine and an unregistered handgun.

After being found guilty of all counts, the defendant was remanded without bail to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility pending sentencing. The defendant faces a maximum sentence of 14 years with the New York State Department of Corrections for his conviction of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd as a Second Felony Offender with 3 prior felony convictions.
