Morristown Central names 2023 class leaders

MORRISTOWN — The Board of Education, administration, faculty, and staff of the Morristown Central School District announced the class leaders for the graduating Class of 2023.

This year’s valedictorian is Trent Miller. Trent has earned a cumulative average of 97.12, and he will graduate with a Regents diploma with advanced designation with honors, mastery in math and science, as well as completing twenty-one college credits.

He is a member of the National Honor Society, chorus, and band.

In addition, Trent has participated in multiple All County festivals, as well as being selected to the Area All State Choir.

Trent serves in leadership roles as the president of the National Honor Society and the co-vice president of Yearbook Committee.

He received the North Country Arts All-Star Award and the Academic All Star Award. In the fall, Trent will be attending SUNY Canton, where he will pursue a degree in cyber security.

Trent is the son of Michael and Stephanie Miller.

This year's salutatorian is Matthew Wilson. Matthew has earned a cumulative average of 95.91, and he will graduate with a Regents diploma with advanced designation with honors, mastery in math & science, as well as completing 30 college credits.

Matthew is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council.

He serves in leadership roles as the Yearbook Committee co-president, a HOBY youth ambassador, and a Learn to Lead mentor.

In the Fall, Matthew will be attending SUNY Morrisville, where he will pursue a bachelor’s degree in Dairy Management.

Matthew is the son of David and Linda Wilson.

This year's Outstanding Career and Technical Education student is Erica Putney.

Erica has earned a cumulative average of 95.36, and she will graduate with a Regents diploma with honors, CTE Criminal Justice, along with 24 college credits.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, and the Student Council.

Erica has enlisted into the United States Army Reserve, and she will be attending SUNY Potsdam for her bachelors in Psychology.

She is the daughter of Ricky and Penni Bass and Lowell Putney.
