Potsdam Juneteenth

POTSDAM - The fourth annual Potsdam community-wide Juneteenth Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 17 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Ives Park Gazebo, behind the Clarkson Inn at 1 Main St. in Potsdam. The Juneteenth Celebration Organizing Committee presents this family-friendly event to celebrate the culture of African-Americans and provide a space for Black voices to be honored. The celebration will feature music, dancing, a free heritage-rich catered meal, and brief presentations on the relevance of Juneteenth in American history. All are welcome to join in this free cultural celebration, with activities for children, a Black Is Beautiful Fashion Show, drumming, speakers and more.

Bear Mountain hike

CRANBERRY LAKE — The Laurentian Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club will hike Bear Mountain Saturday, June 24. Expect stupendous views of Cranberry Lake and the wilderness beyond. The trail is 3.8 miles long and steep in some places, with a total elevation gain of about 670ft. It is suitable for kids who are reasonably fit, so families are most welcome to join us.
