CANTON -- New lessons in American Kang Duk Won Karate will begin Thursday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 7 p.m., at the Canton Pavilion. The classes are part of programs being offered by the Canton Village Recreation Department.

"American Kang Duk Won Karate has been taught throughout the North Country for many years for schools, universities, and fitness centers," program director Frank Palumbo said. "Exercises are conducted in a highly respectful and energetic manner with original traditions and disciplines of the martial arts emphasized during all lessons."

Classes are offered for school age youth, college students, and adults. Fitness techniques for the mind and body include: stretching, balance, focus, confidence, and the development of inner strength (Ki).

No previous experience in karate is required to become involved in the program. Interested individuals are invited to attend a free introductory class at any time. Members may then train at any of the additional classes taught in the region. Family memberships are available.

Self-defense and personal safety skills are discussed during each weekly lesson. Classes are held in the Upper Riley Room of the Canton Pavilion. Masks, distancing, and non-contact practices are required all times.

For further information, attend a Thursday class, or contact Palumbo at 315-854-6880.
