MORRISTOWN — The Gateway Museum will stage a concert with the trio of local Morristown drummer Paul Knowles, Jim Burr on piano and Kathy Sommer on violin on Monday, July 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the pavilion at the Morristown Fire Station.

The trio plays a mix of jazz, swing and a smattering of folk.

Both Knowles and Burr are veteran North Country jazz musicians.

Paul Knowles performs with various groups, including the Clayton Community Band and continues performing while he winters in Florida.

Both Knowles and Burr are part of the Frank Sacci Band as well.

Sommer, who lives near Redwood, continues to hone her violin craft with Jim Burr as a violin/piano duo.

The two present an engaging and stylish set of beautiful melodies wherever they perform.

Sommer is also the fiddler with the New Hampshire based bands The Buskers and Fiddlers Three, and as a solo fiddler of numerous styles.

Knowles, Sommer and Burr originally met at Tin Pan Galley in Sackets Harbor and for a couple of seasons performed weekly there during the evening dinner hour.

There is no admission charge for the event.

This concert is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
