WINTHROP — North Country Equipment Rental continues to expand on their services and has now stepped into heavy equipment sales and power sport sales.

Owners Jedidiah Arquitt and his brother Jordan first began renting equipment in the spring of 2022 but decided in recent months to expand further.

“We had talked about doing it from the beginning when we started renting equipment but we’ve had so many people asking to buy equipment too that we decided to jump in,” Arquitt said.

With an even larger rental fleet available, Arquitt said business keeps picking up every week.

“We’re already selling a number of machines and we have a bunch on order right now. We’re constantly looking to add more for sale, both new and used machines,” he said.

Equipment ranges from John Deere, Kubota and Case tractors to Sany excavators, Kubota and Cat skid steers, zero turn mowers and every attachment imaginable, from blades and buckets to backhoes, he said.

“If we don’t have something on the lot that someone is looking for, we can track it down one way or another. We have a bunch of great resources to get equipment from,” he said.

Arquitt said anything within the rental fleet would also be for sale if someone were in need.

“We can always replace it, so if it’s the right fit for someone we can always work out a deal,” he said.

When used equipment is purchased, Arquitt said each one is given a thorough inspection and has parts and fluids replaced if needed.

“If we see something is worn out or fluids need to be replaced, we go right through them all and take care of it. We’ve replaced bearings, all fluids, batteries and other parts on multiple pieces of equipment. We want to ensure they leave here 100% ready to go,” he said.

In many cases, much of the equipment has low hours and is in like new condition.

“We’ve had a bunch come through that had 30 or less hours on them. We’ve found some great deals and we want to pass that along to our customers,” he said.

That’s how North Country Equipment rental keeps their prices down, he said, by shopping for the best deals through multiple sources.

“We put the time and research in to find the best deals for everyone. We want to take care of our customers the best we can,” he said.

Arquitt also mentioned that North Country Equipment Rental now has a relationship in place with Kato for brand new excavator purchases.

“We can get anything from them directly, from the smaller homeowner models to the biggest ones that would fill up a dump truck with ease. Folks just have to let us know what they need and we can get it in for them,” he said.

For those looking to purchase equipment but don’t have an existing relationship with a local banking institution, Arquitt said outside financing is available through two sources that have also helped them expand their business.

“We have two great companies that we’ve partnered with ourselves and are great to work with, they’ve helped us out many times and are now helping our customers,” he said.

With the addition of sales, Arquitt said North Country Equipment Rental has also branched out into power sports.

For those looking to start their children out on mini bikes or four wheelers, North Country Equipment Rental may be a great fit, Arquitt said.

“We have Coolster and Tao motorcycles, four wheelers and even gas powered jeeps. We can get anything from 70cc bikes for young kids up to 125cc medium size dirt bikes,” he said.

Dirt bikes cost up to roughly $1,200 each for larger models, a fraction of what many larger brands cost, Arquitt said.

“If you’re new to it or don’t know if your kids will stick with it, going this route can save a lot of money. We also warranty all of the dirt bikes, four wheelers and mini jeeps, so if there is an issue we can help. Parts are very reasonable if replacements are needed too,” he said.

But it’s not just about sales, Arquitt said he himself is riding one of the dirt bikes.

“They’re a blast and for the price you just can’t beat it. If I wouldn’t use it myself I won’t sell it, that’s not how we do things here,” he said.

Arquitt said he is also in talks with another manufacturer that offers go karts, side by side utility vehicles and more dirt bikes and four wheelers.

“We’ll hopefully have that sorted out in the next week or two, that’s my hope,” he said.
