The weekend of Oct. 3 and Oct. 4, the Mtn. Warriors Sled Hockey Team, borrowed 20 sport wheelchairs from CNY Adaptive Sports in Syracuse to play wheelchair Lacrosse on the outdoor hockey rink at the Canton Pavilion.
On Saturday Oct.3, Mtn. Warriors combined with the SUNY Canton Men's Lacrosse Team as well as the SUNY Canton Women's Lacrosse Team in the wheelchairs doing drills and scrimmaging and having lunch with burgers from Glaziers, hot dogs and buns from Save a Lot, chips from A.W. Collins, and Water and Gator Aid from Pepsi of Ogdensburg. On Sunday the Mtn. Warriors and St. Lawrence Men's and Women's Lacrosse Teams played and had lunch, same menu as above.
I would like to thank the Coaches from SUNY Canton Women's Team-Adam Todd, and Men's Team coach- Cam Talbot, as well as St. Lawrence Men's Team Coaches- Mike Mahoney, John O'Connor, and Women's Team Coach- Tom Ryan. Also, I would like to thank the volunteer cooks; Jim Habberman, Phil Lanzatella, Frank & Jenn Polumbo, Tim Abplanalp. and thank you to the Village of Canton Recreation Department for allowing use of the Bend in the River Park for lunch, as well as the outdoor rink.
This can only happen in the North Country. Thank you for your support.
