POTSDAM —The League of Women Voters of St. Lawrence County will present “Voting is the Pivotal Right” Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 3 - 4 p.m. in the Potsdam Public Library mezzanine classroom.
Kathleen Stein, president of the LWV of St. Lawrence County, will discuss the history of voting rights in America and concerns about the proposed SAVE America and Voter ID Acts.
Those attending will also be able to check or update their voter registration, find out the dates and locations of early voting, and the location of their polling site on Nov. 3.
The League is a non-partisan, volunteer political organization open to U.S. residents of any gender 16 years of age or older and never supports or opposes candidates or parties.
The League encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education, advocacy and litigation.
