POTSDAM —The new Fall Island Skatepark was busy last weekend with skateboarders and those on scooters, even though the skatepark is not yet finished.
The 4,500 square feet of custom skateable concrete is part of the Raquette Riverwalk, a walking loop around the Village’s three downtown bridges. When complete, public art will be integrated with the concrete in the skatepark.
The Riverwalk was funded with $2.48 million in state Downtown Revitalization Initiative funds. Stewart's Shoppes Foundation recently also made a $25,000 donation for the skatepark.
