HANNAWA FALLS — A youth and adult sprint triathlon, a Wellness Day and a Family Fun Day were all offered at Postwood Park July 13.
Over thirty youth and adults participated in the first-ever sprint triathlon held at the park.
A dozen children ages 10 and under completed the youth sprint triathlon, with a 100 yard swim, two-mile bike, and one-mile run.
The winner of the Youth triathlon was Jack Goodrich, of Winthrop, with a time of 19:51 minutes. Following him were Perry Houle 20:35; Calder Gonzalez 23:16; Owen Spriggs 23:52; Liam Spriggs 24:48; Brian Tartakoff 25:37; Daisy Lock-Morgan 26.33; Jason Lu 26:46; Danny Datolla 27:36l; Hailey Lock 27:47; Jocelyn Lock 29:48; and Zinnia Lock-Morgan 30:36.
Eighteen swimmers started the adult sprint triathlon with a 1/4 mile swim, and one chose a kayak option. The swim/kayak was followed by an eight mile bike ride and 1.5 mile run.
The winner of the men’s triathlon was Will Trithart, of Potsdam, with a time of 48:10 minutes, followed by Adam Sabatini 50:38; Jackson Dinan 51:10; Dennis Lock 52:39; Steve Greco 53:50; Bill Mitchell 1:01:55; Eugene Morgan 1:09:45 and Edmund Smith: No time recorded.
The winner of the women’s triathlon was Natasha Tulloch , with a time of 47.:23 minutes, followed by Erica LaFountain 56:35; Karen Stauffer 56:36; Grace Hiltunen 56:59; Leah Stauffer 59:59; Kari Lock-Morgan 1:01:54; Allyssa Hardiman 1:04:10; Pam Rowe 1:06:48; Danielle Peake 1:07:11; Madeline Derouchie 1:10:10; and Nicole Sabatini 1:14:38.
There was music throughout the day, face painting, arts and crafts, tie-dye, learn to kayak, learn to paddleboard, yard games, yoga, bootcamp, and pilates.
The day’s events were organized by the Town of Potsdam Recreation Department.
“It was a great day for a Triathlon. Thank you to everyone who helped and participated. Thanks to the Clarkson University Physician Assistant students for their help throughout the day,” said Michelle Garrow, Postwood Park Director.
