The people running the lotteries are deceiving you. If they told you the true odds of winning the jackpot I doubt many people would play. They say the odds of winning the Power Ball jackpot is 1 in 292,201,338. The true odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 35,064,160,560. That is more than 35 billion to 1.
They say the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is 1 in 302,575,350. The true odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 36,309,042,000. That is more than 36 billion to one.
