RENSSELAER FALLS – Why do people attend local festivals?
A recent North Country Now poll asked that very question, and the answers couldn't have described The Great American Falls Fest any better, stated Mayor Michael Hammond.
People said they come to support local businesses and vendors (26%), enjoy great food (18%), see friends and neighbors (16%), experience live music (15%), and enjoy fireworks and entertainment (12%), Hammond noted.
“Those are exactly the experiences waiting for visitors at The Great American Falls Fest, returning to Pioneer Park on Friday, September 11, and Saturday, September 12,” said Hammond. “This year's celebration is especially exciting as communities across America commemorate our nation's 250th Birthday. In Rensselaer Falls, we'll celebrate the American spirit the best way we know how—by bringing people together.”
As in years past, Falls Fest features an impressive blend of music, food, friends, and community.
Friday evening kicks off with performances by Shawn Stoddard from 5 to 7 p.m. Permanent Detour from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tomb from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Saturday’s stage will feature the 5 Dots from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Double Axel from 1 to 3 p.m. Sister Cinnamon from 4 to 7 p.m. and country favorites Josh Cox & The Rattlesnakes from 7 to 10 p.m.
A fireworks display will light the sky at 9 p.m.
Food options will be available from Pig & Moo BBQ, Street's Meats, Nibbles Snackery, Hot Mess Express, Cotton Candy n More, and Giuseppe's Pizza.
Looking to wash down your food, beverages will be offered by The Lounge, Thousand Islands Winery, The Lemon Drop, Roaming Barista Bar, and Tap Society.
Stroll through the park and discover talented local artisans offering handcrafted gifts, home décor, embroidery, candles, permanent jewelry, specialty items, and much more.
“Whether you're looking for a great meal, a unique gift, or simply a relaxing afternoon with family and friends, Falls Fest has something for everyone,” Hammond remarked. “What makes Falls Fest truly special isn't just the music or the food. It's what happens after the last song is played. For years, proceeds from Falls Fest helped transform the Village playground into the beautiful destination families enjoy today.”
This year begins an exciting new chapter.
“After all festival expenses are paid, proceeds from The Great American Falls Fest will support the Village's Library and Community Room Project—an investment that will benefit generations to come,” applauded Hammond.
The new facility will feature a modern library, an inclusive children's learning area with technology and sensory opportunities, a community meeting room, kitchenette, accessible restrooms, comfortable adult reading spaces, and new office space for the Village Clerk. It will also serve as a heating and cooling center during emergencies, ensuring it remains a valuable community resource year-round.
“When you attend Falls Fest, you're doing more than enjoying a great weekend.
You're helping build the future of Rensselaer Falls,” he said.
Powered by Community
Falls Fest wouldn't happen without an incredible team of volunteers, local organizations, sponsors, businesses, and community members who believe in giving back.
This year, Falls Fest recognizes the Diamond Level Sponsors, whose generous contributions of $2,500 or more have helped make this celebration possible: Superior Plus Propane, Collins-Hammond Electric, and North Country Savings Bank.
“Their commitment to our community helps ensure Falls Fest continues to grow while supporting projects that make Rensselaer Falls an even better place to live, work, and visit,” Hammond stated. “Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning for another unforgettable weekend, you'll find everything that makes small-town festivals so special: incredible live music, amazing food, local shopping, children's activities, fireworks, and the warm welcome that has become the hallmark of Falls Fest.
