OGDENSBURG -- Sylvia F. Wilson, age 100 formerly of Ogdensburg passed away on Monday July 8, 2024 at the Maplewood Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Canton with her family by her side.
Surviving are her children Priscilla (Bob) Jones of Ogdensburg and Stephen (Tessie) Wilson of Seattle, WA; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Shirley Walters of Moorpark, CA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank Wilson on April 22, 1993; and two sisters Doreen Martin and Marie Kelly.
Sylvia was born on August 12, 1923 in Canton NY, a daughter of the late Herbert & Eva (Collette) Rood. She graduated from Canton High School and was married to Frank C. Wilson on January 30, 1943. She worked as a nurse’s aide at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital for several years, and in 1966 she attended SUNY Canton where she obtained her register nursing degree in 1968. She worked a total of 32 years at A Barton Hepburn Hospital and briefly at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center before retirement.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, cooking and time spent with her family.
