To the Editor:
They say war is hell, mostly for those directly involved, but war makes life more difficult for everyone. All that equipment and personnel are extremely expensive. Often overlooked however are the massive costs of so much destruction. Entire cities have been reduced to rubble, and reconstruction will cost many billions just to re-create a habitable place...no matter who ends up living there. Those massive costs will be a burden on all of us.
I would like to suggest to our leaders and representatives an idea for cost savings that will ultimately benefit all. I propose that the US suspend all financial support to Israel until fighting and destruction stops, and that those funds be instead funneled into aid for this wars victims. Israel has been an ally for a long time, but our unending support has created a monster. We should not support genocide. The fighting must stop, and turning off the arms faucet is the best leverage we have.
