OGDENSBURG – The owner of the new card shop on Ford Street says his business fills a niche in the world of card collecting.

Mark Demers opened North Country Cards on July 8 at 947 Ford Street.

“What prompted me to open the card shop was that you cannot buy cards or supplies anywhere. Only at Walmart and they are normally out of stock. No place to buy card boxes or card protectors like penny sleeves and top loaders. Except online and the shipping costs are high if you're only buying one item,” Demers stated.

The shop offers a wide variety of sports and gaming cards. Business hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“My primary goal is to keep things reasonably priced. If somebody wants a high end item I can order it. But we mostly want the store to get kids involved in collecting cards again,” Demers said.

Patrons can purchase boxes of cards or just packs. Demers is currently not buying cards but may do so down the road.

“We are getting new products weekly. We carry boxes, sleeves, top loaders, binders, page sleeves and dragon shields. Our goal is to get both kids and adults back into collecting cards again on a reasonable budget. We will also offer high end items as special orders for customers with special requests,” Demers noted.

The store has autographs, hats, jerseys, relic cards and other memorabilia.

“We also offer cards for completing current Topps baseball sets. Bring us your card numbers and fill your set. We also offer a number of vintage cards from many years,” he said.
