CANTON — Randy LaBrake, a dedicated long-serving senior administrator of St. Lawrence University Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreation, was honored for his years of service to the Scarlet and Brown at last week's 2024 Convocation Ceremony, held at the Herring-Cole Grove in the Enchanted Forest on Wednesday, August 28.

LaBrake was selected from an accomplished group of nominees as the winner of the John P. "Jack" Taylor Distinguished Career Service Award, presented annually to an administrator who has upheld the high standards of performance exemplified by Jack Taylor.

An employee of St. Lawrence athletics for 44 years, LaBrake is currently the department's Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business Affairs, and serves as the DI compliance coordinator for the Saints' men's and women's ice hockey programs. He has served in a wide array of roles over his four decades in the department, including guiding the next generation of leaders through serving on multiple coaching staffs, and managing Appleton Arena.

LaBrake's passion and dedication to St. Lawrence is worn on his sleeve, and evident to all observers. Whether balancing budgets, booking team travel, or working tirelessly behind the scenes at countless athletic events, LaBrake's contributions are extraordinary. Known for his no-nonsense approach and unwavering dedication, the Saranac Lake, N.Y. native is also a warm and caring member of the campus community with a tireless commitment to the institution.

The John P. "Jack" Taylor Distinguished Career Service Award is given periodically to recognize distinguished service to the University by an administrator who has worked at St. Lawrence for a minimum of twelve years as of August 1 of the year it is to be presented and who sustains the high standards demonstrated by Jack Taylor's long and distinguished service as Director of Dining Services. Its purpose is to recognize devotion to students and workmanship of high quality in a well-respected member of the campus community.
