Shirley M. O'Neil, 85, Waddington

WADDINGTON -- Shirley M. O'Neil, age 85, passed away on July 4, 2024, in Rome, New York.

She was born on April 9, 1939, in Waddington, New York, to her late parents, Calvin L. Ellis Sr. and Ella Champion.

Shirley was a devoted member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She worked diligently for ConMed.

On January 30, 1955, Shirley united in marriage with her beloved husband, John T. O'Neil Sr., in Waddington, New York.

She leaves behind her partner, Kenny Allen of Rome, NY, her son, John (Julie) O'Neil of Greenwich, NY; her daughter, Debra Zackman of Sylva, NC; her daughter, Barbara (Edward) Lepere of Rome, NY; her son, Donald (Mary) O'Neil of Verona, NY; her son, Peter (Ginny) O'Neil of Albuquerque, NM.

Shirley is survived by her sister-in-law, Colleen Fabrizio of Solvay, NY; her sister-in-law, Peggy (John) Langford of Chase Mills, NY; and her brother-in-law, William (Pat) O'Neil of Chase Mills, NY, sister-in-law, Kathleen O'Neil of Pittsford, NY; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Her nephew Joseph Tiernan who was like a brother to her.

She was predeceased by her husband, John T. O'Neil Sr., granddaughter, Jennifer O'Neil, sons-in-law, Charles F. Zackman IV, and Brian Deshane; brothers, Joseph Ellis, Elmer, Paul, Henry, John (Melvin), Calvin Jr., and Jay, sisters, Dorothy Prashaw, Jean Tiernan, and Barbara Price, sister-in-law, Shirley O'Neil, brothers-in-law, Francis O'Neil, Charles O'Neil, Maurice Tiernan, Donald Price and Benny Prashaw.

Shirley's legacy continues through the memories she created with her family and friends.

Please join the family in honoring Shirley's life and sharing fond memories at the calling hours held at Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington, NY from 6-8pm on Thursday July 11, 2024, and funeral at 11:00am on Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Garry Giroux presiding.
