Service of Remembrance for K. Gregory Tarpinian & Helen (Bogosian) Tarpinian

STUART, FL -- K. Gregory Tarpinian of Stuart, Florida passed away on October 5, 2023, at Jupiter Rehabilitation and Health Care Facility in Jupiter, Florida.

Gregory was born on August 25, 1924, and raised in Massena, New York. He was the son of the late Aznive (Hagopian) and Shmavon Tarpinian.

Greg was a graduate of Massena High School and received a Masters Degree in Education from Syracuse University and a Masters Degree in Administration from Potsdam State.

Helen (Bogosian) Tarpinian passed away on October 19, 2016, at the Terrace at Hobe Sound in Florida.

Helen was born in Massena, New York on July 27, 1923 to the late Zoart (Atanosian) and Stephen Bogosian.

Greg was predeceased by his brother, Mourad, and his two sisters, Zovart Dakesian and Sally Tarpinian. Helen was predeceased by her two sisters, Albie Lynch and Alice Turongian and her two brothers, Sebouh and Ike.

Greg and Helen are survived by their three sons, Robert (Nanette) of San Luis Obispo, CA, William (Lillian) of Guilderland, NY, and Michael (Shelley) of Queens, NY. They are also survived by four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Scott, Brian, and Lindsey, as well as two great grandchildren, Aaron and Alexis.

After his graduation from high school, Greg went into the Army during World War II. He ended up as a prisoner of war in Germany but made it home safe at the end of the war. Using the GI Bill, it helped him financially at Syracuse University where he played football. He started his employment as an elementary teacher in various districts until he eventually became an elementary principal in the Massena school system for 30 years.

Helen and Greg moved to Stuart, Florida after his retirement where they enjoyed playing cards and golf with their many community friends. Greg also spent time watching all sports on television, especially his beloved Syracuse football and basketball teams. Helen was always busy doing crossword puzzles and watching her favorite TV soap operas.

After 69 years of marriage, we are following their wishes of being buried together at the same time. There will be a service of remembrance on June 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Pine Grove cemetery with a lunch immediately afterwards at the Italian - American Club in Massena, New York.
