POTSDAM — Sunday Smith of Potsdam was installed as the 2024-25 president of the Rotary Club of Potsdam at its annual dinner on June 12.
During the ceremony, incoming and continuing officers President-elect Christina DeLorenzo of Potsdam, Past President Duane Pelkey, Secretary Laurean Pelkey of Madrid, and Treasurer Shawn Seymour of Hannawa Falls were also recognized. Michael Griffin of Colton will continue on the board.
Smith is a Certified Nurse Midwife and founder of Midwife Sunday Wellness and Birth Center, which offers full-service maternity care.
She has worked in the mortgage, sales, and pharmaceutical event management fields, but has been in health care since 1996. She became a nurse in 2012 and a Certified Nurse Midwife in 2016.
In 2017, Smith, her husband, Bradley, and two children moved to the North Country, where she has been providing maternity and women’s health care to families in five counties ever since through her solo private practice.
Smith has presented at the American College of Nurse Midwives Annual Convention; the Gender, Sex, and Sexuality Conference; and the World Midwifery Congress. She is also a fellow of the American College of Nurse Midwives.
She is now completing a doctor of nursing practice degree at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
