Robert G. Baker, 81, formerly of Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- Robert G. Baker, 81, of Charleston S.C. and formerly of Ogdensburg passed away on January 15, 2024.

Bob graduated from OFA, as Salutatorian, in 1961.

He furthered his education, graduating from Colgate University, and completing two years at McGill University Medical School before making the difficult decision not to pursue medicine.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, proudly serving as an officer in Vietnam. Bob’s career was entirely with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane (Devitt); a son, Robert Laughlin (Vanessa); a granddaughter, Avery; a brother, Joe (Sally) Baker; as well as a niece and nephew, Haley and Michael Baker.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Lauchlin and Marion Baker, as well as, a brother, Tom.

Other than his family, Bob especially enjoyed skiing and sailing.
