OGDENSBURG -- Pro Musica, a local community chorus in Ogdensburg, will be meeting for the first time this semester on Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. The musical group will be preparing for their annual Christmas concert to be presented in December 2024. Everyone is encouraged to join this musical staple in the North Country, and new members are always welcome. Rehearsals take place in the Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church in Ogdensburg.
This year’s director will once again be Mrs. Diana Sarsfield, a graduate of the Crane School of Music; she is also the vocal music teacher at Lisbon Central School. The chorus will be accompanied again by Jeffrey Hinkle, who studied music composition and piano at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington; he is also an accompanist for vocal music students at the Crane School Music. Jeffrey has been employed as the choir director and accompanist at the First Presbyterian Church in Ogdensburg since March 2024.
Dues of $15 will help to defray the cost of purchasing materials for Pro Musica; the monies will also be used to provide music scholarships to area high schools for deserving students.
