Power Authority to install docks, buoys near St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project

MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will begin the installation of docks and buoys along the St. Lawrence River in the vicinity of its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project the week of April 18.

The first docks to be installed will be at the Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch. The process to have all docks in place is expected to take about two weeks, but it is dependent on the weather and river conditions.

Docks and buoys will be installed at the following locations:

Town of Massena: Hawkins Point Visitors Center & Boat Launch, Massena Intake docks, South Channel buoys, Massena Country Club docks; Town/Village of Waddington: Whittaker Park docks,

Old Milk Factory buoys and Howard Park docks.

All the docks and buoys are scheduled to be removed in the fall, depending on weather and river conditions. The fall removal is timed so the docks are removed before heavy frost or ice creates unsafe conditions for workers and the boating public.
