POTSDAM — Voting for the Potsdam Public Library’s proposed 2024-2025 budget to raise the tax rate 2.3% increase will be held Wednesday, June 26.
Election of four library trustees will also be held, with up to three write-in candidates possible.
Voting takes place from 12-8 p.m. in the library basement.
The budget vote is a proposal for in increase of $14,113 over the current budget,
changing the tax rate from $1.07 to $1.09 per $1,000 of assessed property value. For a $100,000 home, the increase would be $2 for the year library officials say.
Current trustee Abigail DeCastro is running for re-election, but Mary Cabral and Tammara Madeja are not running again. All are for three-year seats.
In addition, voters will be asked to elect a trustee to a two-year seat to fill the remainder of a vacant position. However, other than DeCastro, no district residents filed nominating petitions by the May 20 deadline. As a result, the top three write-in candidates, if any, will fill three of the four trustee positions on the ballot.
