POTSDAM – Want to write out your life story or leave behind a memoir for your children?

The Potsdam Public Museum at 2 Park St. is hosting a workshop that could teach would-be autobiographical writers the skills they might need for such a project.

The museum will offer Creative Legacy Writing: A Guided Workshop Series, Your Life, Your Stories, Your Words starting Wednesday, May 6 at 2 p.m.

“It’s going to be led by a Potsdam resident, Linda Reese,” Village Administrator Isabelle Gates-Shult told the village board of trustees at their meeting April 20.

“The course is going to help participants document life experiences and memories they can share with their family and friends and future generations,” Gates-Shult said.

The administrator said the museum would host meetings once a month over the course of the next year, with the kick off May 6.

No previous writing experience is necessary, according to workshop information posted on the village website. The series is inspired by the book Elderwriters: Celebrate Your Life! by Sue Barocas.
