Pauline M. LaShomb, 97, Massena

MASSENA -- Pauline M. LaShomb, age 97, of East Hatfield St. passed away on Friday evening, June 14, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of The Sacred Heart located at 212 Main Street in Massena, NY on Friday June 21, 2024, at 12:05 pm with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating.

Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Brasher Falls, NY.

Pauline is survived by eight children, Linda and Deacon Tom Proulx of Massena; Louise Fregoe of Massena; Deacon Darrell and Beth LaShomb of Newark, Delaware: Jay and Claire LaShomb of Brasher Falls; Audrey Anderson and her fiancé, John Perry, Jr. of Massena; Dorothea “Dot” and Keith Tyo of Morrisonville, NY; Adele Kalan of Mars, Pa: Valerie and Jeffrey Munson of Massena, along with 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Pauline was born on October 11, 1926, in the Town of Lawrence to the late Azythel (Zeke) and Nora (Burnett) Crump.

She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, Brasher Falls, NY in 1944.

She was married to Victor L. LaShomb in St. Joseph’s Academy Chapel on November 26, 1945. They spent 72 wonderful years together.

Pauline was a stay at home mother, raising their nine children.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, bowling, singing, card playing, cake decorating, watching humming birds, going to the casino, and praying the rosary.

She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and an original officer of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She always enjoyed spending time with the whole family especially “cabin week” in the summer.

In addition, to her husband and parents, Pauline was predeceased by her son, Ronald and granddaughter, Erica Kalan.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Joe Todd, who took care of their mother for over 4 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made in her memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley; 6805 US-11, Potsdam, NY 13676.

Arrangements are under the care of the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
