Patricia Coffin Tocatlian, 81, Morristown

MORRISTOWN -- Patricia Coffin Tocatlian, age 81, of Morristown, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

Family will receive friends at their home located at 2 JW Smithers Road, Morristown, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 3:00PM to 5:00PM.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Christopher Coffin of Morristown, NY; their children, Clea Coffin Stagnitti and her husband, Buck, of Wilmington, NY, and Christopher “Jed” Coffin and his wife, Trish, of Bucharest, Romania; brother, Frank Scott and his wife, Judy, of North Carolina; sister, Mehlinae Douglas and her husband, Lee, of Arkansas; grandchildren, Jimmy, Cassidy, Nick, Will and Katie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pat was born on April 22, 1943, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Mehlinae (Tocatlian) Scott.

She graduated from Utica College with her Bachelor’s degree later finishing her Masters at the University of Albany.

Patricia married Christopher Brent Tocatlian Coffin on February 1, 1964 in Rockford, Illinois.

Pat, a trailblazer in the broadcasting industry, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and advocacy. She was the President and General Manager of WSLB and WPAC in Ogdensburg and a tireless advocate for women’s rights within the broadcasting industry.

Patricia was the first woman elected President of the NYSBA in 1989, paving the way for others. Pat and Chris were stockholders in The Wireless Works, Inc. until 2003, making significant contributions to the field and the local community.

Beyond her professional achievements, Pat was active in the St. Lawrence Historical Association, Renewal House, and the Seaway Festival. Recently she loved meeting with the Morristown Book Club.

Pat was an avid quilter and fabric artist, sometimes making a quilt a week, and quilting until the day she died.

She was a voracious reader, remembered by her grandchildren as reading to them and passing her love of it on to them.

She taught them sewing, baked cookies with them, and did puzzles with them.

She traveled the world and the U. S. to see her grandchildren.
