PARISHVILLE – Three seniors at Parishville-Hopkinton Central School have been named 2024 class leaders.
Julia Ellison and Madelynn Barr have been named co-valedictorians while Luke Phippen is this year’s salutatorian.
Ellison achieved an overall GPA 97.5 and Barr a GPA of 97.49. Luke has an overall GPA of 96.95.
Julia is the daughter of Sean and Andrea Ellison. She will graduate with an Advanced Designation Regents Diploma, majoring in Fine Arts. She has been very involved in the Parishville- Hopkinton School Community including President of the local chapter of the National Honor Society, President of PHCS Follies, and Senior High Band Treasurer. Since 7th grade Julia has been an integral part of the musicals as both a cast member and set design, as well as performing in the cabaret. She has performed clarinet and vocal solos at NYSSMA every year since 6th grade and as result was chosen to participate in All-County, Area All State and the NYSBDA Honor Band, even sitting as first chair. Julia has had numerous art pieces chosen for art shows throughout her high school career including this year’s Remington Art Show. In the fall, Julia will attend SUNY Potsdam and the Crane School of Music, majoring in Music Education and Art Education.
Madelynn is the daughter of Colleen Blevins and Shane Barr. She has been a student at Parishville- Hopkinton Central School since Kindergarten and has excelled academically and will graduate with an Advanced Designation Regents Diploma. During her high school career, Madelynn was Class President for three years, participated in National Honor Society, played Varsity Volleyball for Potsdam, and Club Volleyball. For her senior year, Madelynn has attended The Clarkson School Program. She successfully completed her first semester at TCS with a 3.8185 GPA. Madelynn looks forward to attending Saint Lawrence University in the fall where she has been named a Momentum Scholar.
Luke will graduate with an Advanced Designation Regents Diploma with Honors and a Mastery in Mathematics. Luke has participated in numerous extracurricular activities including being a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council as well as Class Vice President. He is a member of Stage Band and Senior Band. Luke is also a guitarist and was chosen to participate in the first ever Area All State Modern Band. Luke has played three years of Varsity soccer, and was team captain his Senior year. He was chosen for the First Team All Northern Award for soccer. He also played three years of Varsity Baseball and won the Section X Sportsmanship Award in the 2023 Season. He also works as a lifeguard at the Parishville Beach during the summer. Luke plans to attend SUNY Buffalo in the fall of 2024 to pursue a doctoral degree in Pharmacy.
