OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg Public Library Board of Trustees is recruiting.
The Ogdensburg Public Library is an independent corporate entity chartered by the NYS Board of Regents, and operates under State Education and the Division of Library Development. Libraries are ever evolving and used more than ever. They are information portals, educational institutions, modern day community centers, and an integral part of successful and vibrant communities.
“Being a library trustee carries much responsibility and decision-making in the overall well-being of the library and its service to the Ogdensburg community,” a press release from the library said. “Trustees are responsible for short- and long-term strategic planning, sustainable funding, adherence to library laws and best practices, and supervision of the library's executive director. The library board meets a minimum of ten times a year, and each trustee is assigned to at least one subcommittee relevant to their skills and/or interests. Trustees are required to participate in board meetings, educational workshops, and other related events throughout the year to further enhance their understanding of library law, operations, and management.”
Those interested can send a letter of interest along with a resume or CV via email to mmclagan@ncls.org, or by postal mail to: Board of Trustees, Ogdensburg Public Library, 312 Washington Street, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
Under state law, library trustees must reside within the City of Ogdensburg. Interested in helping but live outside of the city? Consider joining the Friends of the Ogdensburg Public Library. Information may be found on our website at OgdensburgPublicLibrary.org.
