Brandon J. Baker, 56, reportedly rented a room at a King Street residence and during a dispute with people there he tried to use a lighter to ignite tubing going to his rental oxygen oxidizer, officers said.
Police, who were responding to a reported structure fire, said Baker had stopped trying to start the fire before they arrived on scene. No fire was ever started.
Baker was arrested on a warrant at 8:25 a.m on Jan. 25 and charged with second-degree attempted arson and first-degree reckless endangerment, officers said.
Police said Baker no longer lives at the King Street residence.
He was cited and released, officers said.
