NORWOOD — Norwood-Norfolk Central School (NNCS) will welcome new and returning students, all of whom will get free lunches for the 2024-25 school year.
Enrollment is steady at around 950 students, down about 40 from last year, according to NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank. Students are back in school Sept. 5.
All students will get meals for free this year, aside from snacks or extra items, he said.
Although there was no construction done over summer, some new faces will welcome students this year.
Madison Bernhardt and Jill Lemma were hired to teach Spanish.
NNCS has hired Dave Steele as a health and physical education teacher, and Cory Palmer has been hired as a long-term substitute as a physical education teacher.
Miya Colbert and Michelle Converse were hired as instructional aides.
Nurse Sarah Pollack was hired for a part-time position.
Maise Voss will teach in the elementary.
Charlene Hall and Brice Panetta join the staff as cleaners.
New food service workers include Renae Gravlin, and Catherine Vallance.
Levi Stowell will work as a mechanic in the district.
No other major changes have been announced.
