NCPR sets ambitious goal for upcoming Fall Fundraiser

The radio station seeks to raise $365,000

CANTON – The next chapter in a happy, long-running partnership between North Country Public Radio (NCPR) and its audience begins this month.

In the past 12 months, NCPR received a major national award and expanded its reach across the region.  Now the station is raising the money it needs to continue to grow and build on its nearly six decades of service to the people of the North Country – service that has been supported by people across the region.

The Radio Television Digital News Association recently honored NCPR with the national Edward R. Murrow Award as the small-market radio station of overall excellence, among the thousands of stations nationwide. Additionally, in the past year, NCPR strengthened its broadcast signal in the Glens Falls/Saratoga Springs region, and in the eastern Adirondacks and western Vermont.  And a recent federal grant to improve emergency alerting in rural places will soon enable NCPR to add a frequency in the Ellenburg/Chateaugay area.

To maintain its history of serving the region with news, entertainment and public events, NCPR has set an ambitious goal of raising $365,000 during its upcoming Fall fundraiser.  The vast majority of NCPR’s annual revenues come from local fundraising efforts - more than half from individual donors - and it goes directly to support the station’s local initiatives.

NCPR’s Fall Fundraiser runs from Monday, October 14th, through Friday, October 25th.  Donors who contribute to the station before the fundraiser begins are eligible to win a $1,000 Visa gift card in an early bird drawing.  Everyone who contributes, through the last day of the fundraiser, is entered in a drawing to win a $2,000 Visa gift card.

Additionally, donors can choose from a variety of thank-you gifts, including a new limited-edition t-shirt and pint glass featuring a series of woodblock prints by Canton artist Kim Longfellow.

People can make a donation to NCPR’s Fall Fundraiser by visiting ncpr.org/give, by calling 877-388-6277, or by mailing a check to NCPR, St. Lawrence University, 23 Romoda Drive, Canton, NY 13617.
