MADRID — The Madrid Historical Society recently had a tour of Fort Tribute as part of their annual trip to a historic site organized by Carrie Greene Rutherford, secretary of the Madrid Historical Society and Co-Historian for Madrid.
Rutherford also organized a binder of copied letters that the Society holds the originals, written home to his parents by Madrid resident Private Judson E. Horsford, while he served during the Civil War with Company G, 106th NY Volunteer Infantry.
Judson enlisted with the 106th New York Infantry Reserves on 13 August 1862 at the age of 20 years old. He was assigned to Company G and obtained the rank of Sergeant by the end of his service on 22 June 1865.
This binder will be available for all who visit the Fort to enjoy.
