June Evelyn (Covey) Weegar, 96, Ogdensburg

LISBON -- Funeral services for June Evelyn (Covey) Weegar, age 96, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Thursday February 8th, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will be private in Lisbon Cemetery; a Celebration of Life is planned in the Spring at the Lisbon American Legion Post 1342 at a time to be announced.

Mrs. Weegar passed away Friday morning, February 2, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Home, surrounded by her loving family.

June was born on September 22, 1927, in Stockholm, NY, the daughter of the late Myron R. and Corinne L. (Hatch) Covey.

She graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton Central School in 1944 and from the Ogdensburg Business School in 1945.

June was united in marriage to Delmar R. Weegar at the Parishville Union Church with Rev. George Marsh officiating. He predeceased her on January 29, 2002.

June began her career as a secretary for the Potsdam office of the Central New York Power Corporation.

In 1967 June and Delmar opened the Lisbon General Store and Gas Station. They operated the General Store together for many years.

June was a Past President of the Lisbon American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 1342, a very active 4H Club leader, a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, the Joe Indian Pond Association and Fire Department and the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lisbon.

She loved to cook, crochet, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, snowmobiling, camping and especially dancing with Delmar at the American Legion dances. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

June is survived by her children, Sheila Driscoll and her husband, Lloyd, of Lisbon, Sharon Palmer and her husband, James, of Waddington, Susan Spearance and her companion, Phil Wagner, of Lisbon and Terry Weegar of Ogdensburg, NY; eight grandchildren, Amy Fields, Cary Driscoll, Amber Clark, Justin Palmer, Ashleigh Weegar, Abrigail Weegar, Brennan Spearance, and Joslyn Higginbotham; ten beloved great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive her.

June was predeceased by her siblings, Floyd M. Covey, Wayne A. Covey and Paul C. Covey.
