John R. Defoe, 77, Massena

MASSENA -- John R. Defoe, age 77, passed away on June 9, 2024, at his residence at The Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence located in Massena.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.

Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

John was born in Peru, NY on September 10, 1946, the son of Alfred and Muriel (Lovett) Defoe.

John’s survivors include three brothers and a sister, Richard Defoe of Star Lake, NY: Calvin Defoe of Raymondville, NY: Dayton Defoe Sr. of Raymond, NH; and Ann Rusmon of Clifton Park, NY. and a nephew Dayton Defoe Jr.

John resided in a residence for the Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence for over 30 years and considered his housemate and staff to be part of his family.

He enjoyed collecting truck and cars and was proud to show them off to everyone.

Once he met you, he considered you a lifelong friend. He was a friendly gentleman who had a smile for everyone.
