John H. "Jack" Perry, 82, Potsdam

POTSDAM -- A Mass of Christian Burial for John H. “Jack” Perry, 82, a resident of 463 Parmeter Road, Potsdam, will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding.

Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk following the services.

Mr. Perry passed away early Sunday morning, June 16, 2024, at the Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a brief stay.

John is survived by his longtime companion of 30 years, Leah LaForty, Potsdam; his two sons, John Perry, New Mexico and Daniel and Ella Perry, Massena; a daughter, Star Saponaro, Utica; a step-son, Brian Lamb, Tampa, FL; his companions three daughters, Tina and Richard Bowen, NC; Roxanna LaForty and her companion, Paul Caloren, Potsdam and Tonya and Theodore Kubinski, Marcy, NY; several beloved grand and great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul and Diane Perry, Syracuse and two sisters, Janice and Paul Trout, Syracuse and Shirley Metcalf, Potsdam as well as several nieces and nephews; and his good friend, Rodney Fuller.

John was pre-deceased by his parents and a brother, Richard Perry.

Born in Potsdam, NY on October 1, 1941, to the late Russell and Florence Dumas Perry, John graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School.

He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

John worked most recently as a truck driver for People’s Oil in Canton and previously was the owner and operator of Perry’s Used Cars in Stockholm.

John in his free time enjoyed socializing with his many friends and family, tinkering with cars and trucks and was especially proud of his antique 1930 Model A coupe and liked taking rides on his motorcycle and trike.

He also enjoyed a good game of shuffleboard.
