Hundreds search for eggs, Easter Bunny makes appearance in Canton

CANTON – Hundreds of children and their families from throughout the area came out Saturday for the return of Canton’s annual “Peter Rabbit in the Park. The Easter event was moved to the Canton Pavilion this year due to weather.

“We’re very happy with the turnout,” said Tammy Mackin, Canton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. She said it was nice to have it again after being canceled the last two years due to the pandemic.

The Easter Bunny was a popular attraction with children, with many of them posing for photos with the bunny.

“It’s definitely a Canton tradition,” said Lenore VanderZee, Canton Chamber of Commerce Board Member. SUNY Canton and St. Lawrence University student volunteers helped fill the plastic eggs with candy and organize the games, she said.

The activities included corn hole games, face painting, and blowing bubbles, as well as the egg hunt with over 3,000 candy-filled eggs.
